"I Love This Hotel!"

This Hotel is crammed pack of colonial charm. Even as you walk in the man on the door is dressed in old colonial regalia. I have stayed in a few different parts of the hotel and each room has been delightful. I love looking out over the sea and seeing the twinkle of lights in the distance of Colombo.
The swimming pool is amazing and i love having a sunset swim looking out over the sea again. The restaurants are fabulous. Really good authentic food.....you should try the lamprice....the best you can get! Breakfast is such an experience too. Never before have I ever seen such a huge breakfast spread. We used to take 2 hours to eat breakfast there was just so much to chose from.
I would definitely recommend a stay here even if it is just for 1 night of luxury.

"Wonderful Stopover"

My husband and I toured around Sri Lanka in Jan/Feb 2008 as part of the escorted tours offered by Kuoni - we spent 1 week touring around Sri Lanka and 1 wk in the Maldives.
Mount Lavinia was our "stopover" hotel - on arrival into Sri Lanka, because it was late afternoon and at the end of our trip. We wished we could have stayed at this hotel longer as it was out of this world. The hotel maintains its Colonial era - even the staff were dressed in the white colonial uniforms. We stayed in a suite for the 2 nights we were there. At the start of the trip, we were in the suite in the building across from the reception and at the end of the trip we stayed in a suite in the main building. Both were very different, the main building was more modern whilst the one in the separate building was very traditional (and my preference).
We enjoyed our stay and particularly recommend eating at the seafood restaurant on the beach. You literally pick your fish, style etc and it was delicious. The two times we were there, we ate at this restaurant as we found it to be so tasty. The staff were very helpful and we would recommend this hotel.
All in all, I thoroughly recommend this hotel (and also the tour around Sri Lanka) - it was one of our most favourite experiences, though very tiring so you must do a beach break at the end!
