The Mount Lavinia Railway Station, known as MLV in railway terms is the hotel’s neighbour, incidentally the only hotel and railway station to share the same name. 12 km from the main Colombo Fort Railway Station, MLV is 4.57 m above mean sea level and the 7th station in the Southern Coastal railway line starting from Colombo.
The railway is increasingly becoming the preferred mode of transport, especially in order to avoid the rush hour motor traffic in and out of busy Colombo. You can reach Colombo within 20 minutes and enjoy the scenic view of the Indian Ocean as the railway line runs parallel to the sea. Going towards the South, Mount Lavinia Railway Station is also a stop for the trains commuting to other tourist destinations in the Southern Coast such as Hikkaduwa and Galle.
